The upcoming Akuma-kun anime has revealed a new key visual, trailer, as well as information on additional cast members. The additional cast members include Ryoko Shiraishi as Sanae Kazama, Yumiri Hanamori as Mio Kazama, Fairouz Ai as Gremory, and Yukiyo Fujii as Hina Asanagi. Previously-announced cast members include Toshio Furukawa as Mephisto III, Yuuki Kaji as Ichiro Umoregi, Yuuko Mita as Shingo Umoregi, and Toshio Furukawa as Mephisto II.
Toei Animation and Encourage Films are animating the series, with Junichi Sato as the chief director and Fumitoshi Oizaki as the director. Meanwhile, Hiroshi Oonagi is doing the series composition, and Daichi Nagatomi is a producer. Netflix is distributing the anime exclusively globally this year, though no specific release date has been announced.
The new Akuma-kun anime is an original net animation based on a series of manga by Shigeru Mizuki. There are three versions of the manga, with them being published in 1963, 1966, and 1970 respectively. One of the mangas first received a live-action adaptation that aired from 1966 to 1967, another manga got an anime adaptation that aired from April 1989 to March 1990. Two movies then spawned from the anime TV series: Akuma-kun: The Movie released in 1989 and Akuma-kun: Yōkoso Akuma Land e!! released in 1990.
