The previously announced Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou (Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory) movie revealed a September 15 premiere date, visual and new trailer earlier today during MAPPA Stage 2023. Studio MAPPA is animating the original work, which will be directed by Mari Okada. This will be Okada’s second directorial work: the first one was Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms in 2018. Mari Okada was not present but she posted a message in which she explained the inspiration behind the movie. She says she wanted to recreate the atmosphere she felt as a child while watching Japanese movies and anime movies. Boys will be the main characters in this movie which will depict the “tingling feeling of youth” instead of sweet and sour teenage drama. The movie was announced in June 2021 along with a visual and trailer. Warner Bros. is distributing the movie in Japan.
