The fate of Kaori Shirasaki has been finally revealed in the season finale of Arifureta season 2. The capital is still in an unfortunate state, as the chaos that was brought by Freid, Eri, and Hiyama, caused a loss of countless lives, businesses, and houses. The king is also dead, which means Lily needs to take the throne to lead the capital. Though of course, it’s not easy for her to adapt to the situation. Looking back, Lily always spent her time with Kaori and Shizuku when Kaori was not a part of Hajime’s party. You could also say that Kaori is her best friend, but because of what Hiyama did, I can tell that it really broke her heart. Kaori was already considered dead, and they don’t have any knowledge of resurrection magic. So, as the new ruler of the capital, and as Kaori’s friend, the only thing she can do is to provide support to Shizuku and the others and help them go back to Earth.
The previous episode ended with Hajime giving Shizuku assurance that she will be able to see Kaori again. However, it’s already been 5 days and there’s still no news from Hajime regarding Kaori’s situation. It looks like Shizuku is trying her best to act normal but her actions can’t trick Kouki. Shizuku and Kouki always train together so he can really tell if there’s something wrong with her. Though, for me, I always found him creepy because he is always staring at Shizuku. He appears to be jealous of Hajime when the girls join his party and doesn’t even try to save him when his life is in danger. Kouki is also weak, even though he’s a hero. He fails to save Kaori and hopes that Hajime won’t come back.
However, Hajime proves him wrong and comes back with Kaori and everyone else. Kouki nearly attacks them, just further amplifying how weak he appears to be.
Well, enough of Kouki. I mentioned that Kaori was with Hajime when they came back. Hajime transferred Kaori’s soul to Noint‘s body using the Age of God magic that he acquired in episode 10. Shizuku is able to recognize her even though she no longer looks like the friend she knew. Of course, throughout the episode, they managed to “fix” her original body. But, as it turns out, Kaori doesn’t want to go back to her body because Noint’s is way more powerful. It was not mentioned in the anime but that body also has a battle experience equivalent to a thousand years, and its physical attributes are really not normal. It cannot even be compared to Kaori’s original body and is on par with Hajime’s.
Well, now that Kaori is back in action, it means that Hajime’s party can now explore a new labyrinth. Although this time, Kouki, Shizuku, and their other classmates will be joining them. At last, they’ve already realized that they can only become strong like Hajime if they acquired an Age of God magic by clearing a labyrinth. It really took them 2 seasons to convey their resolve.
The finale of Arifureta season 2 ended with Hajime’s party together with Kouki, Shizuku, Lily, and the others leaving the capital to go to a certain labyrinth. The ending was really a cliffhanger to some people, especially when you are looking forward to what will happen now that Hajime is adventuring again together with his former comrades. The only thing we can do to see that in the anime is to pray that the show will receive a third season. If it will receive one, then, it will most likely revolve around another journey.
