Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki Episode 8 is out. In the last episode, the fans were left on a cliffhanger. The Student Council Election ended and Aoi Hinami was the victor. Because of that, Minami puts more effort on the things where Hinami was good at. She is pushing herself to her limit. After class, Tomozaki, Hinami, and Tama are hanging out with Minami each day like nothing happened. They did not know that Minami was training really hard by running every evening at 8 o’clock. It also affects her studies to the point that she was sleeping in the middle of having a class sometimes. But even though Minami is trying really hard, she still cannot beat Hinami on their afternoon practice, not even once.
Hinami and Tomozaki were worried for Minami, so Hinami shared a little of their past to him. After that, Tomozaki came to one of Minami’s schoolmates from her middle school and asked about their past. There, he discovered the history between them. One day, Minami did not practice running because it was raining. Tomozaki and Tama thought that it was a good thing because Minami could take a rest. But the rain only disheartened Minami more, because she saw that Hinami was still practicing even though there was a heavy rain. Days later, Minami decided to leave the Track-and-Field Club. After that, Tomozaki, and Tama confronted Minami and later discovered her true thoughts.
“It sucks so much that I want to quit right here right now. But it’ll probably suck even more if I do”. Those are the words that came out of Minami’s mouth. She admitted that she wanted to beat Minami at least once. After hearing these words, Tomozaki did not say a thing because he respects Minami, and as a gamer, he understands what she means. Days later, Tomozaki asked Yamashita (Minami’s school mate from her middle school) what happened between Hinami and Minami in the past. She told him that Minami was a good athlete and a respectable senior. She was the ace of their basketball team. They were able to reach the prefectural tournament, thanks to Minami’s efforts. In their next game, they were against Hinami’s team. Minami’s team lost thanks to Hinami’s efforts. Minami was feeling down, so she watched the next game.
The team ended up second place and she saw that Hinami’s tears started to come out when the host announced who was first. She noticed that Hinami was feeling down because their team was not the first. Minami realized that she was different from Hinami because of that. She was ashamed of herself because she was only an ordinary person. Hinami became her inspiration, so she changed her personality and mood towards others for her to fit in. She also wants to shine like Hinami. At their High School Entrance Ceremony, Minami still feels down because of what happened, but Hinami approaches her and tells her that she wants to be her friend. She also said that she wants to be in the same team as Minami. Because of this, Minami’s sadness became happiness, but then, Hinami still stands out because she is number 1 in everything.
Minami became jealous of Hinami’s skills. She cannot even compete with Hinami’s efforts. It disheartened her. Eventually, she decided to leave the Track-and-Field club because of this feeling. Hinami asked Minami what her reason for leaving the club is, and she said that her body cannot take anymore of the training. In the afternoon, Minami decided to go home with some other friends but Tomozaki stopped her and said that he wants to go home with her and Tama. On their way home, Tama confronted Minami and asked her if she hates Hinami.
Minami said that she should love Hinami. She also said that Hinami is a great girl, and she can do anything. She continued that Hinami is always looking out for her and understands her. But then, Hinami always beats her in schoolwork and in sports, Hinami always shines. Minami said that one day, she suddenly became jealous of Hinami. While saying these words, tears came out from her eyes. She finally admits that she feels like Hinami is in her way and she wants her gone. Then, Minami finally said the reason why she left the club was for her to avoid thinking those thoughts.
Tama comforted Minami. She confessed to her that she is her hero. Tama also said that Minami is her number 1 idiot. Because of this, Minami’s thoughts became lighter. She realized her wrongdoings and reconciled with Hinami. She rejoined the Track-and-Field club again and told them that she was sorry for the ruckus she caused. Days later, Nakamura’s birthday came and finally, Tomozaki will now give his birthday present to him that he bought in episode 5. Hinami told him that after he gave his present, he must talk to Nakamura for 3 minutes. Tomozaki cannot think of any random topic, the only thing in his mind was the rumor that Hinami and Mizusawa are dating. Then, he ends up asking Nakamura about it with a very loud voice.
The next scene after that was in a restaurant. Tomozaki, Hinami, Minami, and Tama are eating together and Minami gives them a present as a compensation for the ruckus she made. She also says that it is a sign of their friendship. They make fun of Tomozaki for asking Nakamura if Hinami and Mizusawa are really dating. Then, Hinami told them the truth that they are not dating. So finally, after a bunch of episodes, in Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki Episode 8, it was confirmed that Mizusawa and Hinami are not dating!

Expert gamer Tomozaki Fumiya doesn’t exactly fit in, but he wishes he did. With no written rules for success and gameplay that doesn’t work in his favor, the real world seems impossible for someone like him. But, like any noob, all he really needs are some strategies and a seasoned player like Aoi Hinami to help him. Hopefully with her guidance, Tomozaki will gain the experience he needs.
