The upcoming anime adaptation of the Boukyaku Battery manga has released its first character trailer and visual for the protagonist Haruka Kiyomine. Check out the trailer and visual below:
Ahead of Boukyaku Battery‘s debut in April 2024, the new trailer teases the stoic Kiyomine, who serves in a duo as an ace pitcher alongside batter Kei Kaname. Kiyomine is voiced by Toshiki Masuda after being voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya in MAPPA’s ONA in 2020. It was revealed that new character visuals will be dropping every week, so fans can likely expect Kaname on February 16. An advance screening of the first two episodes of the anime series will be held on March 10. In attendance will be members of the main cast:
Boukyaku Battery adapts the manga of the same name by Eco Mikawa, which has been collected in 17 volumes on Shueisha’s Jump+ platform since April 2018. The series will be directed by Makoto Nakazono (Chainsaw Man & Jujutsu Kaisen episode director). Michiko Yokote, a frequent scriptwriter for the Naruto anime series (the canon part, luckily), will also do the screenplay.
The official Boukyaku Battery website gives the following introduction to the series:
In the middle school baseball world, there was an undefeated formidable pitcher named Haruka Kiyomine, and a sharp-witted catcher known as the ‘strategist,’ Kei Kaname. Despite receiving scouting offers from powerhouse schools across the nation, they both unexpectedly chose to attend a relatively unknown baseball school. Furthermore, Kei suffered from amnesia and had lost all knowledge related to baseball.
And by chance, other prodigies who had once been defeated and distanced themselves from baseball also ended up enrolling in the same high school…
