Google announced the Top 10 Most Searched terms in Japan on Wednesday and Chainsaw Man anime and Suzume no Tojimari film won in the Anime category and the Film category, respectively. The awards are given out to people, shows, and generally things that have seen a surge in the number of searches when compared to the previous year.
Chainsaw Man is a currently-airing show animated by Animation studio MAPPA based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga of the same name, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to January 2021 with a total of 11 volumes. The series’ second part is being published on Shueisha’s online manga service Shonen Jump +. The manga surpassed 16 million circulating copies with the 12th volume’s release on October 4. The anime adaptation was chosen as Anime Corner’s most anticipated Anime of Fall 2022 by fans. The anime’s opening theme song “Kick Back” won third place in the Lyrics category. Suzume no Tojimari is Makoto Shinkai’s latest anime film. It premiered on November 11 and had the best start when it comes to earnings in the director’s history. The film will be available in 199 countries and regions, which is also the largest number among his films. The 10 films in the Film category are:
