Ryu Nakayama, animator and director of the Chainsaw Man anime, has announced that he has established an animation studio called Andraft. The company is dubbed as a creative unit and is currently hiring animators, background artists, producers, and more. Nayakama announced the launch on his personal Twitter/X profile. The website for the new project has also been launched.
According to Andraft’s website, the company aims to establish an environment where animators and producers can continue to take on various projects without being bound by existing traditional concepts. Moreover, it also aims to bring even freer expression to more people in their future projects.
Andraft’s first production project is producing a promotional video for a collaboration of the trading card fighting game Cardfight!! Vanguard and the VTuber group Vspo. Nakayama served as the director and storyboarder for the video. Studio Mew and HYBRIDLABO assisted with the animation.
Nakayama has done multiple key animation roles for several anime titles including Jujutsu Kaisen, Sword Art Online, No Game No Life, One Punch Man, Kill la Kill, Black Clover, Rising of the Shield Hero, Eromanga-sensei, Fate/Apocrypha among others. During his directorial debut for Chainsaw Man, he also did the key animation for the series’ opening theme, as well as storyboarding episodes 1, 7, and 12. He previously worked on Barakamon as an assistant to the chief animation director, action animation director for Yatterman Night, SAO’s Ordinal Scale movie, Gamers!, and Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia.
