The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc episode 5 released this Sunday, and we are finally about to witness the real fight against the Upper Moon 6! It was clear that the disguises part of the mission was over last week, as Tanjiro already met Daki and engaged her in combat. This episode started with Tengen finding Hinatsuru. We saw that the Sound Hashira truly cares for his wife, and he told her to leave Yoshiwara when the antidote works. Afterwards, he figured out someone was fighting underground and used one of his abilities to crash downwards, where he found his other 2 wives, as well as Inosuke and Zenitsu.
The arc so far has felt a lot like a setup for the actual fight, and it was exciting to see it finally begin. All 3 of the young Demon Slayers got their moments. Tanjiro struggled with his Water Breathing and realized he can’t quite be like Giyu and Urokodaki. This meant he had to rely on Hinokami Kagura, which surprised Daki and almost caught her off guard. However, it’s clear that he’s still no match for her, so he’ll either need to grow stronger as his temperature goes higher or rely on someone else to save him (likely Nezuko or Tengen).

Meanwhile, Inosuke first managed to find the underground path to the feeding cave, where he impressed one of Daki’s demons with his skills and intuition. He managed to save Makio and Soma, and they then fought together. A sleeping Zenitsu also brought out his Hekireki Issen – Sixfold. The demon sensed 2 sounds, of which Zenitsu’s overlapping thunderbolts was one, and Tengen Uzui was the other. We also got a glimpse of the past between the Hashira and wives. Although he seems nonchalant and self-centered, we again saw that he truly cares about all his wives. His first words to them were to prioritize their own lives above any mission, and that his own life comes 3rd, with law-abiding citizens as the 2nd priority.
The episode ended just as he gets ready to fight, and it’s likely that the next few episodes will be action-packed. Episode 5 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc is available on both Funimation & Crunchyroll, and episode 6 will release next Sunday on January 9.
