Saku Sakamoto’s upcoming original anime film Feast of Amrita has released its first key visual, as well as details on the film’s theme song information. The movie will premiere in Japan on May 26 this year. Zelico Film is distributing it.
The cast for the anime film includes Maaya Uchida as Tamahi, Mamika Noto as Aki, Kana Hanazawa as Rin, and MoeMi as Yuu. Osamu Fukutani will supervise the film’s production and planning. Aruma will perform the film’s theme songs namely “CYNISME” and “Kaze ni Kizu.”
Sentai Filmworks has licensed the film through its HIDIVE streaming service, describing the plot as:
On their way home from high school, Tamahi and some classmates are shocked as they witness someone fall from the rooftop of a nearby apartment. Panicked and confused, they rush to the building only to find it deserted. As Tamahi wonders about this, she has the uneasy feeling they are being watched. What is the strange presence around her…
Feast of Amrita (Amrita no Kyouen) is a direct sequel to the 2018 horror anime film Anime: Aragne no Mushikago (Aragne: Sign of Vermillion) which was also directed and animated by Saku Sakamoto. The new film was first announced in October 2022 and has been nominated under the Feature Film category at the upcoming Animafest Zagreb 2023 awards event, which will be held in Croatia from June 5 to June 10 this year.
Saku Sakamoto is also known for his directorial work in other anime films such as Mattsu, Yamma and Moburi – The Mystery of the Seven Gems and the Flying Castle (2013) and Mattsu, Yamma and Moburi – The Naval Treasure and Riddle Island (2014).
