Fruits Basket -prelude- movie revealed a new trailer preview ahead of the February 18 release date. The movie will screen in Japan, but there is still no information about an international release. TMS Entertainment is animating the movie.
The new preview features the theme song “Niji to Kite” by Trio Ohashi:
Fruits Basket – prelude- previously revealed a teaser trailer and a visual. The prequel movie will be directed by Yoshihide Ibata, who also worked on the anime. Masaru Shinodu is doing character designs, while Masaru Yokoyama composes the music. Taku Kishimoto is the screenwriter for the Fruits Basket -prelude- movie.
The movie will focus on Tohru’s parents, but also have a special epilogue set after the events of the main series. The cast from the anime are reprising their roles:
Fruits Basket manga series by Natsuki Takaya was serialized in Hana to Yume magazine from 1998 to 2006. A sequel titled Fruits Basket Another was serialized from 2015 to 2020. A side story covering The Three Musketeers Arc came out in 2019, with a sequel in 2020.
The series also had 2 anime adaptations. The first one came out in 2001, but it didn’t cover the entire story (Studio DEEN). TMS Entertainment and 8 Pan co-produced the reboot, which started airing in 2019 and had 3 seasons in total, with over 60 episodes.
