The main cast from the series is reprising their roles with Yoshimasa Hosoya voicing Katsuya and Miyuki Sawashiro as Kyoko. Yoshihide Ibata, who also worked on the anime, is directing the movie, with Masaru Shinodu as character designer. Taku Kishimoto is writing the script, while Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music.

Fruits Basket is originally a manga series by Natsuki Takaya, serialized in Hana to Yume magazine from 1998 to 2006. A sequel titled Fruits Basket Another was serialized from 2015 to 2020. In addition to the sequel, a side story covering The Three Musketeers Arc is also available.

The first anime adaptation came in 2001, but it didn’t cover the entire story (Studio DEEN). TMS Entertainment and 8 Pan co-produced the reboot, which started airing in 2019 and had 3 seasons in total, with over 60 episodes.
