The Ganbatte Ikimasshoi novel by Yoshiko Shikimura is getting an anime film adaptation, and it is set to have a theatrical release in Japan on October 25. A trailer and visual have been released as part of the announcement:
Studios Moe and Reirs are animating the film under the direction of Yuhei Sakuragi. Yuhei Sakuragi and Keiichiro Ochi are in charge of the screenplay, and Asako Nishida is doing the character designs. The main cast includes:
The Ganbatte Ikimasshoi novel was first published by Magazine House in 1996 before getting a reprint by Gentosha in 2005. The title first sprung a live-action film adaptation in 1998 titled Give it All. Itsumichi Isomura directed it with Rena Tanaka and Ren Osugi being some of the main cast members. It then had a live-action Japanese TV series, which was created by Kaneko Arisa and produced by Shigemitsu Keiichi. The live-action ran for 10 episodes from July to September 2005.
The series follows the story of an all-girl rowing team.
This is the latest directorial work from Yuhei Sakuragi, who had directed the original net animation adaptation of Niantic’s Ingress game, released in the fall of 2018. Other works from Sakuragi include Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo (2019), Artiswitch (2021), and Soutai Sekai (2017).
