Unforeseen Productions, Inc. (better known as Bang Zoom Entertainment) produced the English dubbed versions of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc, Mashle, Suzume, and many more popular anime. While the production year for the Gurren Lagann the Movie: Childhood’s End English dub is listed as 2023, this doesn’t necessarily indicate the movie’s release date. The upcoming Netflix anime Onmyoji, which recently announced an original live-action movie Onmyoji 0, will be released on November 8, 2023, despite being listed on the SAG-AFTRA site as a 2022 production. Nevertheless, this positive Gurren Lagann news is coupled with the fact both movies will return to US theaters in Japanese dubbed in winter 2024. The news was revealed during Studio Trigger’s panel at Anime Expo on July 1, 2023, alongside a special trailer.

Gurren Lagann The Movie: Childhood’s End

The Gurren Lagann movies recap the events of the original Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann anime series which premiered from April to September 2007 across 27 episodes. The first movie Childhood’s End was released in September 2008 and its sequel The Light in the Sky are Stars was released in April 2009. Hiroyuki Imaishi directed the anime and both films while Kazuki Nakashima wrote the series. Studio Trigger was responsible for animation.

Crunchyroll streams the anime, and they describe the story:
This is the story of a man who has yet to realize what destiny holds in store for him…In the distant future, mankind has lived quietly and restlessly underground for hundreds of years, subject to earthquakes and cave-ins. Living in one such village are 2 young men: one named Simon who is shy and naïve, and the other named Kamina who believes in the existence of a “surface” world above their heads.
