The main character Jess from Heat the Pig Liver anime has received a new character trailer. The anime is scheduled to premiere on October 7 with Project No.9 animating the series.
Masayuki Takahashi is directing the anime, with Deko Akao writing the script and Susumu Watanabe designing the characters. Kenichiro Suehiro and Mayuko are collaborating together on composing the music. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito in Sword Art Online, Inosuke in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) is voicing the titular Pig, while Tomori Kusunoki (Makima in Chainsaw Man) is playing the role of Jess. Miyu Tomita (Miko Iino in Kaguya-sama) and Kento Ito (Gorou in Oshi no Ko) are also in the anime as Ceres and Nott, respectively.
Heat the Pig Liver is based on an isekai light novel series written by Takuma Sakai and illustrated by Asagi Tohsaka. The light novel began serialization in ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint in March 2020. A manga adaptation with art by Minami has been serialized in the Seinen manga magazine Dengeki Maoh since August 2020.
The plot follows an unappealing otaku who reincarnates as a pig, after passing out while eating raw pig liver. In the new world, he meets Jess, a girl who can read minds and accepts him for who he is, but she does plan on eating him eventually. However, she is in danger, and Pig is the only one who can save her while using his new skillset which includes a refined sense of smell.
