Ice Skating Manga Medalist Gets Anime Adaptation

Medalist, an ice skating manga by Tsurumaikada, is getting an anime adaptation by Studio ENGI. As part of the announcement, a teaser visual and information on the staff have been released.

The anime adaptation will be directed by Yasutaka Yamamoto, with Jukki Hanada on the series composition and screenplay. Chinatsu Kameyama is the character designer. A special illustration by Tsurumaikada has been released as well to commemorate the announcement.

Medalist was first published at Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon on May 25, 2020. The first volume of the manga was released on September 23, 2020. At the moment, there are eight volumes of the manga released.

Kodansha USA has licensed it in English, describing the plot as:
Tsukasa, whose dreams were crushed. Inori, left to fend for herself. These two share a dream…and their tenacity may be the only thing that sees them through. Their destination? The ice…on the world’s stage!

The Medalist manga has won several awards, including the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category, and the 47th Kodansha Manga Award in the general category: both awarded in 2023.
