Insomniacs After School anime released the first trailer, along with a 2023 premiere date. The anime was announced in January of this year, alongside a live-action movie adaptation. It is based on a seinen manga by Makoto Ojiro.
The main cast was also announced and includes Konomi Tamura as Isaki Magari and Gen Sato as Ganta Nakami. Studio LIDENFILMS is animating the series, with Yuki Ikeda as the director. Rintaro Ikeda is doing the series composition, with Hiroki Fukuda as the character designer. Yuki Hayashi is composing the music.
Author Ojiri has also released a statement following the trailer release:
This is the first time for me to work on an anime adaptation, and it is something I am not accustomed to, but I am surprised every day by the strength of the production team’s love for the original work, as they incorporated everything that was important to the work into the script.
Both Gen Sato, who plays Ganta, and Konomi Tamura, who voices Isaki, fit the role perfectly, as if their voices reproduced exactly how the characters sounded in my head when I was writing the script. The beautiful scenery of Noto, including Nanao City in Ishikawa Prefecture, where the story is set, can be seen in color. I am now looking forward to seeing the fresh atmosphere portrayed by director Ikeda and his young and fresh staff.
