Marvelous Announces Project Magia With Hiro Mashima’s Character Designs

Marvelous has announced their forthcoming title Project Magia, in partnership with Hiro Mashima, at the Marvelous Game Showcase 2023. The team have partnered with the creator of Fairy Tail and Edens Zero to design the game’s characters, with two illustrations shared during the announcement.

XSEED Games, the Western subsidiary and distributor for Marvelous’ titles, have given an overview of Project Magia:

Managing Producer Takehiro Ishida revealed the first details of this upcoming project, built around the theme of “A New Frontier”. The development team has partnered with legendary illustrator and writer Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail) to design the game’s characters, sharing a look at a few of the early designs. More details will be revealed at a later date as the development team works to brave this new frontier for Marvelous!

Platforms and genres for the project were not announced at this time.

In addition to his work on Fairy Tail and Edens Zero, Hiro Mashima has previously collaborated on video games with Square End for Gate of Nightmares, a free-to-play JRPG for iOS and Android released in Japan in October 2021. The mangaka is also no stranger to the games development process, having made and released an Edens Zero spin-off game in March 2022, developed using the popular JRPG toolkit, RPG Maker. The spin-off game was released on the official Edens Zero website, and is playable on PC.
