P.A. Works announced a new original anime, titled Mayonaka Punch. The anime, which premieres this July, has released a teaser trailer and visual as part of the announcement.
Shu Honma, who directed 2022’s Ya Boy Kongming! anime adaptation will be directing. Hideaki Shirasaka is the scriptwriter and Ryota Arima is the character designer, with Tsukasa Kotobuki who is in charge of the original character designs.
The Mayonaka Punch original anime will also get a manga adaptation, with illustrations by Tomomi Usui. It is scheduled to begin serialization in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace magazine in March 2024, while a novel adaptation has also been announced. No details about the plot for this series have been announced, although it is worth noting that the teaser trailer depicted a circle of female friends doing crazy stunts for streaming views.
This is the latest original anime project from P.A. Works, which includes Angel Beats! (2010), Hanasaku Iroha (2011), Tari Tari (2012), Koitabi: True Tours Nanto (2013), Nagi-Asu: A Lull in the Sea (2013), Glasslip (2014), Shirobako (2014), Charlotte (2015), Sakura Quest (2017), Sirius the Jaeger (2018), Iroduku: The World in Colors (2018), and Fairy Gone (2019).
Recent original works from the studio include Appare-Ranman! (2020), The Day I Became a God (2020), The Aquatope on White Sand (2021), Akiba Maid War (2022), and Buddy Daddies (2023). The studio also recently announced another original anime series titled Na Nare Hana Nare, which will be made in collaboration with DMM.com.
