Minato Wins NARUTOP99 Poll, Will Receive Original Manga Story

Minato Namikaze won the NARUTOP99 character poll and he will be getting a new original short manga, written by none other than Naruto creator, Masashi Kishimoto. The results of the poll were revealed during a special stream official Jump Comics YouTube channel.

The polling began on the official series website after Shueisha’s Jump Festa 2023 event where fans could vote for one specific character every day. The following are the top 10 final results of the character poll voting:

  • 1. Minato Namikaze (792,257 votes)
  • 2. Itachi Uchiha (505,014 votes)
  • 3. Sakura Haruno (486,616 votes)
  • 4. Shisui Uchiha (279,062 votes)
  • 5. Kakashi Hatake (212,403 votes)
  • 6. Naruto Uzumaki (182,911 votes)
  • 7. Sakumo Hatake (170,940 votes)
  • 8. Sasuke Uchiha (170,665 votes)
  • 9. Madara Uchiha (144,947 votes)
  • 10. Hinata Hyuuga (144, 484 votes)

An official illustration by Kishimoto was also revealed during the stream which you can check out below. Four, brand-new special episodes of Naruto will air later this year.

The manga series Naruto written and illustrated by Kishimoto was serialized from 1999-2014 in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The series ran for a total of 72 volumes and currently has a total of 250 million copies in circulation, making it the 6th most successful manga of all time. VIZ Media acquired the English license in 2003 and has since published all the volumes, including 3 separate box sets completing the series.

VIZ Media licenses the manga in English and describes the plot as:
Twelve years ago the Village Hidden in the Leaves was attacked by a fearsome threat. A nine-tailed fox spirit claimed the life of the village leader, the Hokage, and many others. Today, the village is at peace and a troublemaking kid named Naruto is struggling to graduate from Ninja Academy. His goal may be to become the next Hokage, but his true destiny will be much more complicated. The adventure begins now!
