Mushoku Tensei Episode 2 Continues To Impress

Episode 2 of Mushoku Tensei came out today, and it’s reaffirming its place as one my favorite shows of the season. I did have high expectations from just the trailers and early information, so I’m really excited seeing how great the episodes are! This week opened with somewhat a more ‘mature’ scene and showed Rudy’s inner Gintoki again. He concluded that best girl Roxy is a growing girl, but still showed his happiness for walking in on her.

Besides the light-hearted moments and Rudy peeking in on Roxy, there was also the deeply troubling past for our MC. His fear of going outside was highlighted, and it seems he was tortured in his past life. It even resulted in him hallucinating some kids playing as taking photos of him and bullying him.

Although kind of creepy, I still appreciate the way it was presented and thought it looked good. We also learned how he died, and truck-kun has no mercy for people trying to save others, as usual.

The artstyle still feels pleasant to watch, and the animation continues to look amazing to me as well. The voice acting sounds great too, and it felt especially good hearing young Rudy call forth the rain! Sad for the horse, but loved this scene too!

Until we see the best girl of Mushoku Tensei again (Roxy via episode 2):

Episode 2 of Mushoku Tensei was worth watching as soon as it came out – can watch on Funimation. Although Roxy went off, I’m sure we’ll be seeing her again in the future, and we still have to meet the other characters from the trailer! The title of the next episode is “A friend” and might introduce either Eris (red haired girl) or Sylph (green haired girl). If you enjoyed the episode, you can vote for it as the best anime of this week on our weekly poll!

The artist of the original light novels also shared an adorable Roxy illustration to commemorate the 2nd episode:

In case you haven’t started it yet, the story goes:
When a 34-year-old underachiever gets run over by a bus, his story doesn’t end there. Reincarnated in a new world as an infant, Rudy will seize every opportunity to live the life he’s always wanted. Armed with new friends, some freshly acquired magical abilities, and the courage to do the things he’s always dreamed of, he’s embarking on an epic adventure—with all of his past experience intact!

It only has 2 episodes at the moment, and it’s definitely worth a shot!
