Mushoku Tensei Episode 8: The Story Gets More Serious

Episode 8 of Mushoku Tensei released this Sunday, and it looks like we won’t be seeing Rudy’s silly antics for much longer. The second half was probably the most serious part so far, apart from Ghislaine decapitating those guys when she saved Eris and Rudy. Although the first half was just as relaxed as we’re used to. It started with the planning of Rudy’s birthday party, though he immediately caught wind of it and started planning his reaction. At one point, Ghislaine was trying to prevent him from learning, so she accepted to show him her tail. It wasn’t exactly the typical fan-service moment since she’s built like a wall, but it was still pretty silly.

At the party, he faked crying and got the Eris’s grandpa and mom to want to protect him. The old man was expected, but the mom’s reaction was pretty surprising. Though Rudy obviously didn’t mind the sudden affection. Both the mom and dad wanted him to marry Eris. Although Hilda wanted it to help Rudy while Philip wanted to take over the family in a coup. He seems way more cunning now.

He wouldn’t mind

Later on, Eris also seemed to be way softer than usual. She had given him an epic wand for a present, and afterwards was willing to do what he wanted, as long as it was “a little”. Still, it ended with him getting beaten, although she apologized and told him to wait for 5 more years. After that, we got to see grown up Norn and Aisha, as well as the adorable Sylph and Rudy’s family. Paul noticed that monsters were acting up in an unprecedented way, though he couldn’t really do anything.

We saw Orsted face a dragon, as well as short previews of Kishirisu and Perugius. After that, we saw Rudy wanting to show off his cloud name skill to Ghislane and Eris, but it got interrupted by Almanfi who thought Rudy was the source of the disturbance. After a short but awesome fight, he decided to retreat, but then the big flying ball thing blew up and he disappeared. It also caught Ghislaine and obviously the two kids, but the episode ended before we saw what happened. Still, it’s obvious that the story got way more serious and possibly even dark, and I can’t wait for next Sunday!
