My Hero Academia Episode 90: Midoriya Meets The First Holder of One For All

As expected, My Hero Academia got a bit more serious with episode 90. We started off with Dabi trying to finish Endeavor and Hawks, and the Rabbit Hero Mirko coming in to save the two injured heroes. Sadly, we didn’t see much of her abilities as the villain immediately retreated, taunting the new Number 1 Hero in the end. We saw Hawks is not really a traitor, but is trying to play an insider with the League of Villains. It was reassuring, though it also seems like Dabi doesn’t trust him at all. On Endeavor’s side, he seems to be trying to repent to his family. However, Shoto’s older brother Natsuo is not interested, and gets mad when he starts talking to him. On the other hand, Shoto’s decided to give him a chance, saying he knows how little can change a person (like Midoriya changed him).

After the Todoroki family, the focus shifted to Midoriya. He fell asleep after training, and suddenly “dreamed” of the past All for One vestiges (vestige – “a trace or remnant of something that is disappearing or no longer exists”). We saw most of them clearly, though 2 were still mystified. There was 1 missing there, and he appeared along with One for All. We learned that the two were actually brothers, and AFO forcibly gave his younger brother his ability. Although it wasn’t named, he was told that it’s a power that should be useful even for someone weak like him. It seems pretty obvious that OFA was in question, seeing that’s it’s a stockpile kind of quirk. But before Midoriya could speak with the first holder of OFA, he woke up, breaking the window of his room.

My Hero Academia Episode 90 is already available on Funimation. For the continuation, we have to wait for “Clash! Class A vs. Class B” next week, and it’s finally hitting off the fight between classes. The surprised “guest” at the end was kind of spoiled with the visual and all the trailers, but it should still be epic!

The synopsis of the story goes:

What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested extraordinary superpowers called “Quirks” at age four? Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Becoming a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study? U.A. High’s Hero Program of course! But what would you do if you were one of the 20 percent who were born Quirkless.

Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all gives him a chance to change his destiny…
