My Hero Academia Manga Author Draws Deku To Celebrate Season 6 Premiere

My Hero Academia manga author Kohei Horikoshi posted an illustration of the series’ protagonist Izuku Midoriya, also known as his nickname Deku, to celebrate the My Hero Academia Season 6 premiere, which took place today. The tweet came with a caption: “Today, Saturday at 5:30 in the evening, My Hero Academia anime begins broadcasting.

The newly released illustration shows a student of Class-A at U.A. High School, Izuku Midoriya in three panels.The aspiring hero covers his arms with slime, while his classmate Shoto Todoroki is checking the camera. In the second panel, Midoriya jumps down to a lower place, and lastly, he lands on the ground, showing his muscular arms and back, looking back at the cameraman who is standing in the higher place, and thus a photo is taken. The written text says “Anime Today In the Evening 5:30!” about the airing date and time of the anime’s sixth season.

Daiki Yamashita, the voice actor of Izuku Midoriya, quote-tweeted the post on the day: “It finally begins today.

Kohei Horikoshi has been drawing My Hero Academia manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since July 2014. The series released the first compiled volume in November 2014 and is slated to publish the 36th volume on October 4, 2022.

Viz Media licensed the manga for English releases and describes the plot of Volume 1 as:
Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…
