New Manga From the Author of Astra Lost in Space and Sket Dance Has Begun Serialization

Kenta Shinohara, the creator of Kanata no Astra (Asta Lost in Space) and Sket Dance has begun a new manga series. The title of the series is “Witch Watch” and it is a ‘magical comedy’. The official Twitter account of Shonen Jump released an illustration:

The synopsis of the story goes:

Morihito, a boy with the strength of an ogre, is about to start living together with his childhood friend NIko, who is training to be a witch. NIko’s magic leads to all sorts of unpredictable trouble, and with two teens under one roof… Let the fantastical antics begin! Magical comedy series by Kenta Shinohara creator of SKET DANCE and Astra Lost in Space.

It started in the 10th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. It has a total of 57 pages, although that includes the cover and illustrations as well. You can also read it for free on the MANGA Plus website for free! I’ve checked out the first chapter and can say I found it entertaining. The main characters have an interesting relationship and the humor didn’t feel forced, though that’s subjective. I suggest checking out the first chapter and seeing for yourself! The next chapter will come out on Valentine’s Day (February 14) at 1AM Japan Standard Time. It also gets a simulrelease on the MANGA Plus website, so we can read it as soon as it’s out!

Both Astra Lost in Space and Sket Dance were great, so maybe it’s only natural for the new manga to be as well. Another fun fact is probably that Shinohara Kenta worked as an assistant to Hiedaki Sorachi. Sorachi-sensei is the original creator of another great manga, Gintama!
