The upcoming One Piece Red movie revealed a new visual, which also features the August 6 opening date in Japan. International release details are not available yet but are on the way, official Twitter confirms. The new poster visual showcases “a mysterious character” who has a message for Luffy:
The movie recently revealed character designs, which confirmed that the Straw Hats would appear in the movie. The official title is One Piece Film Red.
Goro Taniguchi, who also directed the One Piece OVA episode One Piece: Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack!, is directing the movie. The One Piece mangaka, Eichiro Oda, is serving as a producer on the movie, while Tsutomu Kuroiwa is writing the screenplay. Kuroiwa worked on the previous One Piece movie, titled One Piece Film: Gold, also as a screenwriter.
Toei Animation, the studio behind that shaped the One Piece franchise as we know it, revealed a teaser trailer for the movie. which hints at the story with “An almighty voice. With fiery red locks.” line:
The movie was first announced after the broadcast of the 1000th episode of the One Piece anime on November 21, 2021. The TV anime is currently on hiatus, following a security breach of Toei Animation servers.
