Summer 2021 anime season is behind us, and it was full of good shows. The season contained a variety of different genres, some romcoms, shounen, slice of life, and, of course, isekai. One of the nine isekais from this season that you should watch is definitely How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom.
Whether or not you like the anime will depend on a few things. If you like economics, or love watching series that will get you thinking, you will surely love this anime. Furthermore, if you’re searching for a waifu candidate, this series can be a good choice. If you are also fond of military strategies, you will surely enjoy the show. It’s a world-building isekai where the MC is not OP, he is just smart, and that’s one of the reasons why the anime is fun to watch. As for the other reasons, I will explain them below.
Warning: Might Contain Spoilers
When the protagonist, Souma Kazuya, was summoned to the Elfrieden kingdom, he easily resolved the economic problems of the country. Thus, the king gave his throne to him. Souma also builds infrastructure that will help the kingdom in the future. His directions include the solutions to some of the nation’s problems such as food shortage, transportation crisis, disasters, military insubordination, and more. In the series, you will see how he managed to solve those problems. Personally, I’m really impressed with his strategies. Analyzing those allows me to learn while watching the series.
The series’ soundtrack and theme songs are also commendable. I didn’t skip the opening and ending song of the anime cause I found it extremely good. The rhythm always made me hyped. The soundtrack also really fits the mind-blowing scenes that the series serves us.
You can watch the latest promotional video for the show to hear some of the series’ soundtrack and opening song. If you enjoy good soundtracks, you should definitely watch How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom!
If you love the idea of waifus, you should definitely watch How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom. After all, the anime has Liscia, the princess of the Elfrieden kingdom. She has some dere sides which make her really cute. There are some scenes showing her adorable personality.
Another waifu is Juna Doma. She has blue hair, a slim body, and a huge chest. Her voice is also cute. I was captivated by her first appearance in the anime. If I’m were to rank the waifus in this series, I think Juna would come in 1st place.
There are nine more waifu candidates in the series, if you want to see them, just watch the show
Of course, there are some fight scenes in the show. However, those aren’t your typical adventurers vs monsters fights. Instead, we get to follow a war. With that in mind, you can really analyze the military tactics used. For me, it’s like playing chess. There’s a deep meaning in every part of the strategy. What’s more, you can also learn about great strategists from the past because they are being used as references. So if you love history, then you absolutely should watch How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom!
There are tons of isekai shows where a kingdom summons a hero. Then, the summoned one must fight the enemies by using the powers they received. However, in this anime, the summoned hero didn’t fight the enemies in the “standard” way. Instead, he tried to rebuild the kingdom and became the commander of the whole army. Also, the anime is not focusing on the fight scenes. It centers on how the protagonist tries to make the kingdom’s economy stable. If you asked me, I’d say that the fight scenes are a minor part of the story. As I said at the start of the article, this anime is a world-building one.
Of course, to achieve their goal, the main character, Souma Kazuya, is using all of the knowledge he gained from Earth. While doing what he thinks has to be done, some of his actions become memeable. For example, when Souma is teaching some useful cooking techniques, he does the “Salt Bae” pose. There are more memeable scenes in the anime, so if you wish to see more, just watch the show.
The first part of the series ended on a cliffhanger. Part 2 will air in January 2022, and we will see more developments in the story. Of course, it also means that there might be more waifu candidates in the sequel. You can watch its teaser video below:
“O, Hero!” With that cliched line, Kazuya Souma found himself summoned to another world, and his adventure–did not begin. What’s more, he’s betrothed to the king’s daughter now…?!
In order to get the country back on its feet, Souma calls the wise, the talented, and the gifted to his side. Five people gather before the newly crowned Souma.
