The first part of The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh movie is coming to Netflix in December 2022. Alfred Imageworks and Marvy Jack are animating the movie, which will be CGI and feature a spin-off story that will focus on Tristan. The second part of the movie is also in the works, but the release date is still unknown. The information was revealed during the Netflix Geeked Week.
In addition to the December premiere for Grudge of Edinburgh, a special visual featuring character art drawn by the original Seven Deadly Sins mangaka Suzuki Nakaba was also revealed:
The movie will take place after the original series and before the events of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse manga sequel. The story is an original work and appears to be focused on Tristan who leaves his father’s castle after a mysterious army attacks it. On his journey, he meets fairies and giants who will change his life forever. Watch the teaser trailer below:
The original Seven Deadly Sins series also has an anime adaptation with 4 seasons and 2 movies. The first 2 seasons and Prisoners of the Sky movie were animated by A-1 Pictures. Studio DEEN took over for seasons 3 and 4, and the latest movie Cursed by Light served as an anime-only sequel. TV anime was a Netflix exclusive worldwide, while the movies had theatrical screenings in Japan. All the seasons and both movies, as well as a special OVA series, are now available on Netflix. An anime adaptation of Four Knights of the Apocalypse was announced earlier this year.
