Shield Hero Season 2 Dub Premiere Set for May 4, Cast Revealed

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 English dub has a premiere date – May 4. The cast has been revealed, and Stephen Fu is replacing Billy Kametz as Naofumi Iwatani. Kametz recently revealed a cancer diagnosis, which forced him to take a break from work and focus on his health.

The cast includes:

  • Stephen Fu (Wonder Egg Priority) as Naofumi Iwatani
  • Erica Mendez (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Raphtalia
  • Brianna Knickerbocker (The Seven Deadly Sins) as Filo
  • Amber Lee Connors (Komi Can’t Communicate) as Ost Horai
  • Dawn M. Bennet (Black Clover) as Eclair Seaetto 
  • Sean Chiplock (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind) as Kyo Ethnina

Steve Staley (Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story) is the ADR director for the English dub of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2.

Season 2 of Shield Hero anime adaptation premiered in April of this year, after originally being scheduled for October 2021 premiere. Studios Kinema Citrus and DR Movie are animating the series under Masato Jinbo’s direction. The anime is based on a light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi and illustrated by Minami Seira.

Crunchyroll is streaming the anime and describes the plot as:
Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world. But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation? less
