The upcoming Spice and Wolf reboot anime has revealed its Valentine’s Day visual. The anime will premiere this April, with Studio Passione animating it. The new project’s full title is Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf, and it recently received the 2nd anime trailer. Check out the new visual below.
The original Spice and Wolf anime aired for two seasons: the first one from January to March 2008 and was animated by Imagin while the second one aired from July to September 2009 and was animated by Brain’s Base and Marvy Jack. Details on the anime reboot were first announced in February 2022.
Spice and Wolf is based on a light novel series by Isuna Hasekura and illustrated by Ju Ayakura. It is currently being serialized by ASCII Media Works since February 2006 under its Dengeki Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation illustrated by Keito Koume began serialization in the November 2007 issue of ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Maoh. The series also sprang a spin-off series titled Wolf and Parchment, and has been serialized since September 2016.
Crunchyroll will be streaming the upcoming Spice and Wolf reboot, describing the plot as:
Lawrence is a traveling merchant selling various goods from a horse-drawn cart. One day, he arrives at a village and meets a beautiful girl with the ears and tail of an animal! Her name is Holo the Wisewolf and she brings bountiful harvests. She wishes to return to her homeland, and Lawrence offers to take her. Now, the once-lonely merchant and the once-lonely wisewolf begin their journey north.
