Spy x Family topped the Anime Corner’s Spring 2022 polls in the third week of the season. This was the second time in a row that the CloverWorks and WIT Studio anime won the most votes. The anime’s second episode, which allowed viewers to meet the Forger family in full setup, gathered 15.09% of the total votes, beating the second-ranked Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – Ultra Romantic by a steep margin.
To put things into perspective, Kaguya-sama’s third season managed to get 8.01% of the votes, while the third-ranked Date A Live got 7.85%. This also means that Spy x Family was not only the top-ranked new anime of the season, and also the top-ranked spring seasonal in general, beating some well-established fan favorites.
The anime is based on a manga by Tatsuya Endo. It started serialization in 2019 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump + magazine platform. Viz Media is publishing the series in English and describes the plot as:
Not one to depend on others, Twilight has his work cut out for him procuring both a wife and a child for his mission to infiltrate an elite private school. What he doesn’t know is that the wife he’s chosen is an assassin and the child he’s adopted is a telepath!
The Anime Corner weekly polls for week 4 of the Spring 2022 season are now open.
