That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 42: The Demon Lords

“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” Episode 42 is out! These serious discussions have been going on for a while but this episode is different. We leave Rimuru’s point of view and jump to meet the other Demon Lords instead. Here, we see them unfold the mysteries surrounding Rimuru and the upcoming Walpurgis! The episode is titled, “The Demon Lords.”

The episode begins with Clayman discovering the news (AKA cover story) of Veldora’s resurrection and Rimuru’s lucky opportunity. Wow, the merchants sure talk fast! It’s all going according to Rimuru’s plan, but unfortunately, Clayman doesn’t know that.

The episode moves on to introduce the next Demon Lord, the Sky Queen Frey. She’s elegant, clever, and a sweet friend to Milim. It’s disappointing though that she is actually in cahoots with Clayman. Or… is she? Whatever it is, Milim falls under the control of the annoying puppet master. Clayman’s ignorance and ego will no doubt be the cause of his downfall. I just know so.

The next part introduces us to Leon Cromwell and Guy Crimson. I’m really happy to finally meet these two! While Guy had few appearances, Leon on the other hand is more known as the man who summoned Shizu to this world. Compared to the feeble Clayman, Leon and Guy (even Frey too) carry a more profound and powerful aura. I honestly love that their introductions make Clayman look like a big joke.

Leon and Guy discuss the conspiracies around the upcoming Walpurgis. Milim’s suspicious actions with Clayman are what piques Guy’s interest. Whether it’s a game or not, he says that it is troubling to disturb the balance among the Demon Lords. Along with Milim and Ramiris, Guy is the oldest and most powerful demon lord.

Additionally, more revelations come out when Guy mentions Rimuru and the coincidence of Veldora’s resurrection. The White Ice Dragon, Velzard, appears! Ara ara, she looks so cute and cool. (Pun intended). Leon shares his intel on Famluth and they arrive at the theory that someone of equal power broke Veldora’s seal — Rimuru.

It’s all getting interesting –Clayman’s violent acts, Milim’s strange behavior, Rimuru’s evolution, and Veldora’s return! In addition, there’s Leon’s own problem of his experiment’s sudden halt. Did you guess it right? It’s Rimuru’s interference (again) from when saved the otherworlder children. I did not expect that! Apparently, Leon’s trying to summon a specific person…

This is a lot of goosebumps one after another! It’s all connecting to each other, and I can’t help but feel the thrill. I also feel like the “merchant” felt like a clue leading to another mess. Could it be the same with Hinata’s “merchant?”

My favorite part about “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” episode 42 is that moving forward story-wise, we realize how Rimuru is now among the most powerful people in this world. There’s also the fact however that our overpowering slime cannot overwhelm these demon lords with strength alone anymore. After this episode, I certainly feel the weight of the demon lord title. (Guy especially!)

The introductions of these new powerful characters open many new possible developments for the story and for Rimuru’s ever-growing strength. It’s so exciting! I can’t wait for Walpurgis’ events to unfold! Are you ready for it?
