The Apothecary Diaries' Maomao Graces Latest Issue of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Magazine

Maomao, the main character in the ongoing The Apothecary Diaries anime, graced the February issue of Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare magazine. This is part of the latest tie-up between the anime series and the government ministry body.

The Apothecary Diaries x Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Collaboration – Magazine Feature

This marks the first time an anime character has graced the magazine’s cover, according to an official press statement from the ministry. The tie-up also features an interview with Maomao’s Japanese voice actress Aoi Yuki, where she talks about her role in the anime and what she thinks of it.

The goal of this collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is to promote the use of electronic prescriptions. According to the Ministry, this will prevent duplication of prescriptions to those in need, especially when patients visit various pharmacies and medical institutions for their needs. As part of the collaboration, posters will be displayed at medical institutions and pharmacies to promote the use of electronic prescriptions.

Episode 17 of the anime is set to premiere on February 4. TOHO Animation and OML are currently animating The Apothecary Diaries series, which is set to have a total of 24 episodes. The ongoing series is available to watch on Netflix and Crunchyroll in select regions. Crunchyroll describes the plot of The Apothecary Diaries as such:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
