The Quintessential Quintuplets revealed a music video for the ending theme song of the newest special. “Takaramono” was performed by Nakano sisters. Studio SHAFT (Monogatari, March Comes in Like a Lion) animated the special, which premiered in Japanese theatres in July. TV broadcast started on September 2, while the second and final part is coming on September 9.
Yukihiro Miyamoto directed The Quintessential Quintuplets ~ special, which focused on the parts of the manga that were not adapted in the original TV anime. Keichiro Ohchi was in charge of the series composition, while Masato Katsumata and Kazuya Shiotsuki did the character designs. Shiotsuki was also the chief animation director. Anime Corner had an opportunity to interview Ohchi and Shiotsuki at the recent Otakon 2023 event, alongside producer Junichiro Tanaka.
The cast from the original The Quintessential Quintuplets anime is also returned for the new project. The theme songs, which were released on July 12, were performed by the Nakano sisters. The opening song was titled “Go-toubun no Mirai” while the ending was“Takaramono.” The opening was recently revealed with a creditless video. The cast includes:
The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets anime adaptation aired in 2019 and was animated by Tezuka Productions. Bibury Animation Studios took over for the 2nd season, which premiered in 2021. Bibury Animation Studios also animated the final movie.
Kodansha licensed the manga, which also ended last year and has since published an epilogue chapter, in English, and describes the plot of the 11th volume (that the movie begins with) as:
While on a school trip to Kyoto, the sisters’ relationships nearly go south as they vie for Futaro’s affection, but they weather the storm, come out stronger for it, and enjoy the trip in the end. During the chaos, it also comes to light that Yotsuba was the girl Futaro met on that prior field trip six years earlier … The quintuplets’ past will now be revealed!!
