The past year of 2022 delivered tons of incredible anime, some of which left a deep impression with memorable theme songs. From beautiful melodies that hit us in the feels to powerful beats in shonen anime, many were certainly playlist-worthy. As has become a tradition, we took to Spotify and collected data to see exactly which anime opening and endings songs of 2022 were most streamed on the platform.
Note that not all 2022 tracks have been officially released on Spotify, and all streams are counted as of January 29, 2023, and rounded to the nearest thousand. Songs featured in shorts, kids anime, and films are excluded. Unlike our seasonal rankings, the openings and endings will be split into two charts.
“KICK BACK” by Kenshi Yonezu, the opening song of Chainsaw Man, knocked the other contenders out of the park with an extraordinary 135,336,000 streams. It also placed first in our Fall 2022 Spotify rankings which combined OP and ED results. “The Rumbling” by SiM, which took the top last winter, ranked 2nd at 80,970,082 streams. Spy x Family’s first opening and the Spring 2022 crown “Mixed Nuts” by OFFICIAL HIGE DANDISM followed not too far behind in third place.
