Netflix has revealed the latest information and trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho during Netflix’s Geeked Week ’23. Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action will stream worldwide on December 14. Check out the trailer:
Judging by the trailer, it looks like the live-action adaptation series will cover a few story arcs of Yu Yu Hakusho as they prepare for their fight against the Togoro brothers. Along with the trailer, Netflix has also released the key visual for the live-action adaptation series. The key visual features of Team Urameshi: Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, and Hiei and the Togoro brothers.
New cast additions have been revealed:
They will join the main cast, consisting of Takumi Kitamura (Yusuke Urameshi), Jun Shison (Kurama), Kanata Hondo (Hiei) and Shuhei Uesugi (Kazuma Kuwabara).
The live-action series is directed by Sho Tsukikawa, with Kazutaka Sakamoto as the executive producer and Morii Teru as producer. The script is written by Tatsuro Mishima while Ryo Sakaguchi is in charge of the visual effects of the series.
Yu Yu Hakusho is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. It was published by Shueisha and serialized in their Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine from November 1990 to July 1994. It inspired movies, original video animation, anime, and stage play adaptation. The Yu Yu Hakusho anime series initially aired from October 1992 to January 1995 and consisted of 112 episodes. Yu Yu Hakusho has won the 39th Shogakukan Manga Award for its Shonen category. The manga series was licensed by VIZ Media and published in English while the anime series was licensed by Funimation (now Crunchyroll). It is available in both subbed and English dubbed versions.
