Aka Akasaka’s romantic-comedy Kaguya-sama Love is War manga came to an end in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump on Wednesday after 7 and a half year long serialization since its launch in the publishing company’s Miracle Jump. The manga previously revealed plans to end in 14 chapters in June of this year.
The magazine features the series’ main characters Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya on the cover to celebrate the finale. The official website introduces the final chapter as “Shirogane is in Japan to surprise people at the graduation ceremony, but Kaguya-sama is a cut above…?!” The issue also compiles spin-off work Kaguya-sama wo Kataritai‘s final chapter and photos of Enako’s cosplay as Kaguya and the cosplayer’s talk with the manga’s author Aka Akasaka. As a series of two bonuses, it’s bundled with a leaflet titled Shuchiin-gakuen Renai Zuno-sen Gakubu Sotsugyo Shiken Shosasshi, which literally says graduation exams for the academy’s department of wars of romantic love.

Aka Akasaka’s Kaguya-sama Love Is War manga launched in Shueisha’s monthly magazine Miracle Jump in May 2015, but was later moved to Weekly Young Jump magazine in March 2016. It will be complete over 28 volumes. The manga inspired a TV anime series with three seasons by A-1 Pictures. Season 1 aired from January to March 2019, season 2 from April to June 2021, and season 3 from April to June 2022. It also received several live-action film adaptations. A new anime project Kaguya-sama: Love is War First – Kiss Never Ends is in the works and is set to have both a theatrical screening and a TV broadcast.
Viz Media licensed the manga for English releases and describes the plot of Volume 1 as:
As leaders of their prestigious academy’s student council, Kaguya and Miyuki are the elite of the elite! But it’s lonely at the top… Luckily for them, they’ve fallen in love! There’s just one problem—they both have too much pride to admit it. And so begins the daily scheming to get the object of their affection to confess their romantic feelings first…
Love is a war you win by losing.
