Chainsaw Man Anime and Part 2 of the Manga Both Set for 2022 Release

The Chainsaw Man anime and part two of the manga are officially set to release in 2022. The announcement for the series release came during Jump Festa 2022 on Saturday. The announcement also came with a manga preview video that you can view below (featuring a couple of anime cuts):

The anime will adapt the manga created by Tatsuki Fujimoto. Back in August, MAPPA announced they are going to train and hire animators for the Chainsaw Man and future projects. The studio also announced an all-star staff that will be working on Chainsaw Man. Included in the staff are Ryu Nakayama as the director, Tatsuya Yoshihara as the action director, and Kazutaka Sugiyama as the character designer. For the full list, check here.

The trailer that aired back in June gained over seven million views in just 11 hours. The Youtube and Twitter views for the trailer currently combine for over 20 million views.

Chainsaw Man’s Success

Chainsaw Man is MAPPA’s most anticipated anime series since the studio announced they would take on the final season of Attack on Titan. The series’ success is hard to ignore at this point. Earlier this year, Chainsaw Man won the ‘Best Manga’ award at the 2021 Harvey Awards back in October. Despite part one of the manga being officially over with, the series still grossed over 11 million copies in circulation in just three years.

Fujimoto released a statement after receiving the award:

“Thank you for the insanely awesome award! It’s the best award of any awards that exist in America! I consider this crude manga of mine unbefitting of any award, but I plan to continue packing it full of all the things that I love. If you ever happen to be handing out awards again, hit me up! Thank you very much!”

Fujimoto’s Other Works

As most of us know by now, Fire Punch was Fujimoto’s first big release. But after part one of Chainsaw Man came to an end, Fujimoto released two new projects. The first was a 140+ page one-shot titled “Look Back“, which can be read on the Shonen Jump App. And his latest work is with Sakaku Hishikawa, a novel titled “Chainsaw Man: Buddy Stories that was released back in November.

While it is great that fans have received a release date for the Chainsaw Man anime and part two of the manga, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for another trailer and cast member announcements.
