Cosplay fans in the Philippines are excited to be part of Cosplay.ph’s first event of the year—Cosplay Carnival 2022. This weekend’s event marks the full return of cosplay events for the majority of the local audience. Halls 2 to 4 of SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City will once again be filled with anime and cosplay fans.
Unlike last year’s Cosplay Mini Matsuri (also organized by Cosplay.ph) which is set up in a hybrid event format, Cosplay Carnival 2022 returns as a full live event with a proper event stage, bringing back the glorious days before the pandemic kicked in. Here are the activities in store for everyone at the event:
As Cosplay Carnival 2022 brings back the stage, it also brings back stage activities such as Cosplay Karaoke, Frenemy Feud, Trivia Throne Throwdown, Pick-a-Tune and Cosplay Auction. The Cosplay OTP tag contest and the new Cosplay Dance Duet contest will put cosplayers on stage for the audience to cheer on.
District 1 Cosplay Studio will bring their cosplay studio set to Cosplay Carnival 2022 for cosplayers to enjoy at Php50 per 5 minutes per cosplayer. This will also allow cosplayers to join the Lights, Camera, Cosplay contest (rules apply).
Singapore-based cosplayer Plant Lily will be in the Philippines to meet her fans at Cosplay Carnival 2022. Merchandise and meet-and-greet sessions are prepared for her appearance.
PiPaPosse (Day 1) and Day Night Explorers (Day 2) will open the Carnival stage as guest performers. PiPaPosse is a cover group represented by Shie, Jin and Juu who are mostly active on YouTube and Smule, while Day Night Explorers is a collab project represented by artists Faith and Ashley, as well as sisters Shaina and Shaira.
A total of 82 exhibitors serving a variety of goods will be present at Cosplay Carnival 2022, 51 of which are at the Fanfair area.
Cosplay Con-Quest is back, giving visitors the opportunity to win a prize upon completion of the side-quest. Proxy shipping is also made available through the Cash & Karin service.
Tickets are still available for Php349 at SM Ticket outlets or at www.smtickets.com. Tickets will also be made available on-site for walk-in guests.
