The GREAT PRETENDER razbliuto anime movie has released a second trailer to commemorate its premiere on DMM TV in Japan on February 23. The sequel anime already made its premiere across US theaters from January 9-10 this year in a movie format.
WIT Studio returned to animate the sequel. Hiro Kaburagi also returned to direct, and he was also in charge of the script together with Taku Kishimoto. The first season’s screenwriter Ryota Kosawa returned as the script supervisor. Mai Teshima is now the assistant director, with Shosuke Ishibashi joining as chief animation director. GREAT PRETENDER razbliuto is the sequel to the GREAT PRETENDER original anime which aired from June to September 2020 for 23 episodes. Netflix is streaming the anime and describes the story:
Supposedly Japan’s greatest swindler, Makoto Edamura gets more than he bargained for when he tries to con Laurent Thierry, a real world-class crook. After their string of successful cons, Makoto leaves Laurent’s team. But the web of deceit binding them together goes farther back than he knows.
The movie film serves as a standalone story following Dorothy, the self-proclaimed genius con artist who targets other con artists, as she masterfully maneuvers her way through Asia, all the while facing an unexpected threat. Although initially released in a theatrical format, it is not clear if the TV version will lead up to more content.
