The currently ongoing Horimiya: The Missing Pieces anime revealed a new key visual and recap trailer ahead of the final episode. The final episode will air next Saturday, September 23.
Studio CloverWorks is animating the Horimiya: The Missing Pieces anime, which was announced at this year’s AnimeJapan. The same studio also worked on the first season: it aired in 2021 and ended after 13 episodes. Although it managed to warp up the main story from the manga, some side stories had to be cut. The new anime adapted those stories and this new trailer serves as a summary for them:
The Horimiya series started with Hori-san to Miyamura-kun by Hiroki Adachi (aka HERO). The manga was originally published on the author’s website as a four-panel comic. Square Enix picked it up in 2008 and published it in ten volumes under its Gangan Comics imprint. Additional chapters were compiled in Hori-san to Miyamura-kun Omake series. Hori-san to Miyamura-kun was adapted into an original video animation series.
Daisuke Hagiwara adapted the four-panel manga under Hero’s supervision into Horimiya. This manga ran from 2011 to 2021 in Monthly GFantasy magazine. Yen Press licensed it in English and describes the plot as:
A sweet “aww”-inspiring tale of school life begins!! At school, Kyouko Hori is known for being smart, attractive, and popular. On the other hand, her classmate, the boring, gloomy Izumi Miyamura tends to get painted as a “loser fanboy.” But when a liberally pierced and tattooed (not to mention downright gorgeous) Miyamura appears unexpectedly on the doorstep of secretly plain-Jane homebody Hori, these two similarly dissimilar teenagers discover that there are multiple sides to every story…and person!
