Iruma-Kun episode 4 or Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun season 2 just aired (I’ll call it Iruma-kun for short). I listed it as one of my more underrated anime of spring 2021 because I feel like not enough people are talking about it. This show provides me with roughly 96% of my weekly serotonin and it is so precious to watch.
The animation is one of the better ones out there and the show also has a compelling story. Add on some top-notch voice acting, as well as some excellent music to open and close. Voila, you have yourself a recipe for one of the most wholesome shows out there.
Iruma-Kun episode 4 sees the resolution to Ameri’s behavior changes. Last we saw that our precious cat-eared Student Council President had a spell cast on her. Usually headstrong and direct, she only showed a softer side to Iruma during their reading sessions. Now though, she is constantly dainty, unrecognizable from her usual self.
Something I really love about this show is the diverse cast of characters, and what they represent. Ameri was the confident Queen who carried herself with dignity as a shining example. This spell reduced her to nothing more than a ditzy school girl.
Iruma is told that the spell is almost broken, but it’s in fact Ameri that won’t fix the issue. With the Student Council President election coming up, it looks like the end is near. This version of Ameri confides to Iruma that she’s scared, and want’s to run away.
Iruma takes her hands and tells her to stay strong with her ambitions. No matter what version of her is present, he will care for either one the same way. Telling her people to admire her not as the Student Council President, but simply as herself.
This heart to heart was much deeper than it appeared. It showed two parallels to an earlier scene we have seen. Ameri had to straighten a lost Iruma when he had no confidence in what he wanted, and now he gets to return the favor.
This moment was absolutely adorable to see, as we watch from Ameri’s point of view. These moments show everything she loves about Iruma, in his personality, his demeanor. All the things that we have seen come together as she slowly starts to come back to herself.
Plenty more goes on, but watching Ameri discover her feelings in real-time was so precious to watch. This show provides an amazing balance of interaction on-screen with an interesting story. If you have been looking for a cute comedy for this season, then I may have one for you to watch.
