Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 23: Fushiguro Megumi Unleashed

Jujutsu Kaisen released episode 23 today, and we finally got to see some of Fushiguro Megumi’s real potential! The episode started with the trio continuing the fight against the curses, although it obviously seemed a bit too easy. Yuuji had an awesomely animated fight against the blue one, although he couldn’t put an end to it. Meanwhile Nobara and Fushiguro played Whack-a-Mole with the other one, and Nobara got dragged out of the barrier by a mysteries third opponent. Although she said she’d be fine, when Yuuji’s opponent ran away through the same hole, Megumi immediately told him to go after them as he remained alone. Before Yuuji got there, we got to see the weird Jojo-like curse introduce itself to Nobara.

Inside, Megumi had an easy time getting rid of the small curses. But then the main boss appeared, and it looked just like the Special Grade that had almost killed them before. He even said it was likely several times stronger, and he took a few big hits early on. That’s when the great part started. He remembered how Gojou told him to not hold back and compared his bunt from the baseball game to Yuuji and his own way of thinking (to go for a home run in that situation). He decided to go wild, and activated his incomplete Cursed Domain, Chimera Shadow Garden.

This fight was insane, and he managed to beat the curse and get the Sukuna finger. We saw more of his backstory and sister, as well as how Gojou actually saved him from a plot with the Zenin family. He passed out of exhaustion, and the next episode will feature the other two’s fight. After the ED, we got another great Juju Stroll. Besides the fun concept, MAPPA also delivered more Gojou love.

If you enjoyed episode 23, you can vote Jujutsu Kaisen as the best show on our weekly poll (it ranked 5th last week)! And if you haven’t started it yet, the story goes:

Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…

The manga, written and illustrated by Akutami Gege, recently surpassed 36 million circulating copies (also including digital release)! It has been serialized since March 2018, and it will likely grow even more alongside the anime adaptation too.
