Katsuyuki Konishi is joining the cast of the upcoming reboot of the Urusei Yatsura series as Rei. It has been previously announced that the reboot by David Production will have two consecutive cours and will begin airing in October 2022.
After all these years, I never thought that I would be able to participate in Urusei Yatsura one day. At the time of writing this comment, I haven’t participated in the post recording yet, but now I’m wondering “When will I be able to participate?” I am excited every day.

Konishi has voiced multiple characters across various anime titles, including Kamina in Gurren Lagann, Laxus Dreyar in Fairy Tail, and Tanktop Master in One Punch Man. More recently, he has played the roles of Diavolo in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Jonathan Joestar in Phantom Blood, and Tengen Uzui from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
The Urusei Yatsura reboot was first announced in January this year. It first received a key visual and trailer in May this year. Previously-announced cast members include:
Urusei Yatsura is based on the manga by Rumiko Takahashi, and was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday. It first received an anime adaptation from Studio Pierrot (episodes 1-106) and Studio Deen (107-195). It aired from October 1981 to March 1986.
