Legendary game developer Hideo Kojima, best known for Konami’s Metal Gear series, shared his thoughts on the ongoing original anime Lycoris Recoil with his 1 million followers on Twitter.
“I’m not getting used to Amazon Prime,” the internationally-known game developer began his tweet. “So I had a hard time looking for ‘CODA‘.” The Oscar-winning CODA was added to Amazon Prime Video’s streaming library in Japan on July 21. Kojima continues to say the action-packed anime caught his attention during his search on the platform.
“I happened to bump into an anime sounding like ‘Lycoris Pizza?’ called ‘Lycoris Recoil’ during my search. An assassin girl with an assassination license gets appointed to work in a cafe?! That’s some crazy setting and introduction! I realized that, like it’s an anime from Japan?, and found myself having gone through it up until episode 3. Where’s episode 4!” The anime is updated on Amazon Prime Video on Tuesdays, around 2 days after the broadcast in Japan, which means the fourth episode will be available on July 26.
Studio A-1 Pictures is producing Lycoris Recoil under Sword Art Online series character designer Shingo Adachi’s direction. Ben-To light novel author Asaura wrote the original story, while This Art Club Has a Problem! manga author Imigimuru is in charge of the anime’s character design.
Imigimuru retweeted the above-mentioned post and expressed happiness briefly: “I-I’m so happy… In a reply to a tweet, he even said “It’s so unexpected I’m all shock up lol“.
Asaura, on the other hand, quote-tweeted Kojima’s post: “The ongoing situation no longer makes sense to me.” with an emoji being shaking for fear of the situation: ｶﾞｸｶﾞｸ((( ；ﾟДﾟ)))ﾌﾞﾙﾌﾞﾙ”
Hideo Kojima learned more about the anime and tweeted “I see you call [the anime] LycoReco.” and Asaura reacted again in an awed tone: “Director Kojima is deepening his insight…!!!” with the same shaking emoji.
