Strike the Blood Final only had 4 episodes, and the anime was originally set to end on June 29, 2022 before getting postponed. Strike the Blood anime series first aired in 2013, starting with season 1. However, the next seasons came out through OVA setups, releasing 2 episodes every 3 months through a Blu-ray/DVD. Since the anime series produced multiple OVA episodes, and the waiting period for each episode took a while, it may be a little confusing for others how to watch it chronologically. You can check out the chronological order of the Strike the Blood series below:

  • Strike the Blood
  • Strike the Blood: Kingdom of the Valkyria
  • Strike the Blood II
  • Strike the Blood III
  • Strike the Blood: Kieta Seisō-hen
  • Strike the Blood IV
  • Strike the Blood Final

Each season adapted the volumes of the light novel chronologically. Strike the Blood Final adapted the 22nd and last volume of the light novel series. You can watch the commercial that promotes the final 2 episodes of the anime series below:

The video features Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets’ “Akatsuki no Kaleido Blood” song, which is also the opening theme for Strike the Blood IV. The band previously also performed the opening songs for the previous seasons of Strike the Blood, High School of the Dead, Gate, and more. The previously announced new character Ladli Ren, who is voiced by Megumi Han, also appeared in the video. She is the sister of the anime’s antagonist, Shafriar Ren.

The anime is based on Gakuto Mikumo’s Strike the Blood light novel series. ASCII Media Works serialized it with Manyako’s illustrations from 2011 to 2020. The light novel had a total of 22 main volumes and 2 side stories available. The same publisher published a manga adaptation by Tate on Dengeki Daioh from 2012 until 2016, and it had a total of 10 volumes in circulation. Yen Press licensed the original Strike the Blood light novel series in English and describes the plot as:

He never asked for this power.

Kojou Akatsuki used to be an ordinary high school boy–but that was before he became the Fourth Primogenitor, the most powerful vampire of all time. Worse–he doesn’t even remember how it happened. Middle schooler Yukina Himeragi, meanwhile, is the Attack Mage sent to observe him–and to stop him if he gets out of control. But was it really a good idea to send a cute girl to observe a massively powerful vampire boy whose abilities activate whenever he gets aroused? And on an artificial island populated with all manner of demonic individuals, each with their own designs on the Fourth Primogenitor–?!
