Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume is slated to premiere in Philippine cinemas on March 8. Warner Bros. Pictures revealed the premiere date on Wednesday with a visual of the film.
Suzume initially premiered in November 2022 in Japan and had its international premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) this February. Director Makoto Shinkai, Suzume’s voice actress Nanoka Hara, and producer Genki Kawamura, attended the event. Aside from the Philippines, Suzume will also be screened in other countries such as Australia, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the United States, and more this April.
CoMix Wave Films is animating the movie with Makoto Shinkai as director and screenplay writer. Masayoshi Tanaka is doing character designs with Takumi Tanji as the art director. RADWIMPS teams up with again Shinkai as they are in charge of the music along with the composer Kazuma Jinnouchi.

Doors of Disaster open across Japan, bringing misfortune. 17-year-old Suzume lives in a quiet town in the Kyushu region in Japan. The story begins when she meets a young man on a journey to discover all the doors. She follows him and finds an old door at an abandoned building in the mountains. As if drawn by something, she reaches out… This is the start of her journey across Japan to lock up the doors that bring disasters. Makoto Shinkai’s modern adventure and story about a girl’s freedom and growth sets off.
