Yu-Gi-Oh Manga Author Kazuki Takahashi Found Dead at 60

The manga author Kazuki Takahashi, creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!, was found dead in Nago City of Okinawa prefecture, Japan. He was 60 years old.

According to NHK’s report, a person was found wearing snorkeling equipment floating in the offshore of Nago city, Okinawa prefecture, and Nago Coast Guard Station confirmed the person was Kazuki Takahashi on July 7. The station and the police have been investigating the details.

Kazuki Takahashi was born on October 4, 1963 and launched the popular Shonen manga series Yu-Gi-Oh! in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1996 and ended the manga in 2004 with a total of 38 volumes. The series inspired anime adaptations, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!! has been airing since April 2022. Konami has been developing and publishing a card game called Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game.
