5 Reasons Why You Should Watch Battle in 5 Seconds

Almost halfway through the season, Battle in 5 Seconds is quietly moving up the ranks in our weekly polls. After episode 4, the series made its poll debut coming in at 8th. This past week, the series moved up two spots to 6th place. And, if you guys vote for it, it could reach the top-5 next week for the very first time this season.

So what’s all the hype about? Well, before episode 6 airs on Monday, August 16th, here are five reasons why you should start to watch Battle in 5 Seconds. (Spoiler Free!)

5. Much like Idaten Deities, It’s Different

I’m just going to clear the air and say no, I’m not comparing this series to Idaten Deities. But a huge problem anime fans faced going into this Summer season is that the majority of the popular series are either rom-com, slice-of-life, or isekai. There really isn’t much anime outside of those three genres airing this season. However, Battle in 5 Seconds goes against the grain.

Yes, it’s a battle royale anime. Yes, it has battle royale anime tropes. But it doesn’t matter because they’re all executed well.

In the very first episode, there’s brutal violence straight out of the gate. And in each episode, there is no shortage of violence either. The series wasted no time getting the fans hooked and you could end up being another one just like the rest of us.

4. The Humor

Battle in 5 Seconds actually has a broad range of humor for any kind of anime fan. Maybe you’re the kind of anime fan that likes seeing someone get blasted out of nowhere just because he was annoying. Perhaps you’ll love the fact some of the characters’ abilities are so ridiculous you can’t help but laugh.

Seriously, someone’s ability is turning a little button from his jacket into a rope. Wait until you see how his fight goes in episode 3.

Or maybe you have a dry sense of humor. No matter what sort of humor you have, Battle in 5 Seconds can pander to it. It’s definitely an aspect that viewers will overlook at first. But the series actually has its hilarious moments and episode 4 was full of them.

3. The Characters Are Interesting

In every battle royale series, whether it’d be anime, a tv show, or a movie, there are always certain characters: the genius, the comedic relief, the brute, the dunce, etc. While Battle in 5 Seconds isn’t innocent of this trope, the series actually does a phenomenal job with each of their characters. Not just in design, but their personalities as well.

The main character, Akira, is a genius who over-analyzes just about any situation. Whether he’s about to fight or just sitting in a room by himself, he’s constantly thinking about what to do next. Yuuri, the main female protagonist, may actually be the best character so far in the series.

While everyone is deciding which girl is best in Girlfriend, Girlfriend, Yuuri is over here kicking ass and has arguably the most powerful ability of any character we’ve seen so far. If Yuuri isn’t on your “Best Girl of Summer 2021” watch, then she needs to be.

2. The Action

The action is Battle in 5 Seconds can be looked at as hit or miss. However, you can’t argue that some of the battles live up to the series name. There are battles that last longer than others, of course. But we’ve had a handful of them that end rather quickly and it feels like it was actually five seconds long.

However, every single battle has been animated perfectly. Each battle’s mood is set either with serious, emotional, or humorous undertones. And the best part is that it all flows together. The pacing is very quick and there’s no wasted time between going to the next stage in the fight.

1. The Story Is Getting Much Better

Episode 5 of Battle Game in 5 Seconds is definitely the best one to date. The battle has now entered its third stage and characters are now teaming up with three separate factions: Red, Blue, and Green. New allies and villains have been introduced and each one possesses enough suspicion to make this series become even more interesting.

The Red faction, led by Ooagmi (pictured below), is using weaker contestants as their puppets. The Green faction is recruiting contestants to fight the Red faction and stop what they’re doing. Meanwhile, the Blue faction is the middle man just watching from the sideline. They have no stake in the fight between the Red and Green factions. But that’s all we know about them so far…

If there is a perfect time to catch up with Battle in 5 Seconds, now is that time.
