Ave Mujica Episode 2 - Spiraling Down Into Despair

BanG Dream!’s Ave Mujica episode 2 is out, and it continues the whirlwind of chaos that episode 1 unleashed. Let me start this review by saying that the pacing feels absolutely frantic. After the unexpected face reveal, it seems the fallout has been more beneficial than harmful. With the band gearing up for a nationwide tour, the hype surrounding them has only grown thanks to the explosive reveal. However, everything feels like it’s happening way too quickly.

The band’s progress is way too fast. Their Budokan journey felt like a blink of an eye, and now every member’s schedule is packed especially Mutsumi’s who is also the star of this episode.

Even in the prequel to Ave Mujica, we barely got to know Mutsumi’s character. As the saying goes, it’s always the silent ones, and Mutsumi has that aura of mystery, as if she’s hiding the biggest secret of them all. While this episode doesn’t really tell her character much, you can feel she’s already on the brink of insanity. It seems like only a matter of time before her expression mirrors the freaky look she gives in the opening theme sequence.

Mutsumi Wakaba dead

I’m excited to see the revelations about Mutsumi unfold in future episodes, but I can already feel the weight of her struggles in this one. Watching her juggle endless interviews, photoshoots, and other entertainment obligations was exhausting in itself. You can sense her pain through every scene, and it’s only a matter of time before something gives.

Not to mention, Mutsumi’s exhausted appearance is deeply concerning. It’s not just the grueling schedule or the pressure but rather it feels like there’s something more unpromising lurking beneath her character. I can’t shake the feeling that death flags are scattered all over her story. Like for instance, her stage name, Mortis is the Latin word for death. It feels chillingly symbolic, and certain frames in the episode left me feeling uneasy.

One particularly haunting moment was when she went down the stairs to their practice room, looking utterly drained. The way the scene was framed, with her slumped posture and vacant expression, almost felt like someone on the verge of giving up entirely. It was unsettling, to say the least.

Ave Mujica Episode 2 Mutsumi

Then there’s her cryptic statement during the live television interview. When asked about her thoughts on Ave Mujica after their big face reveal, she replied, “It won’t last long.” That line she said was insane and it completely shocked me. What does she mean? Is she hinting at the band’s potential breakup? Or could it be something more personal like her own departure from the band? Maybe even worse, permanently leaving everything behind.

Whatever the case, Mutsumi’s words and demeanor have set the stage for something potentially devastating. I can’t help but worry about what lies ahead for her and Ave Mujica as a whole.

Ave Mujica Episode 2 Sakiko

Mutsumi’s character is shaping up to be one of the most compelling in the entire franchise so far. While it’s tough to watch this quiet, reserved girl slowly spiral into despair, it’s also incredibly engaging. I’m really hoping she reaches her breaking point soon. Not out of cruelty, but because I want to see her finally let it all out.

The thought of her expressing all the emotions and pressure she’s been bottling up is both heartbreaking and exciting. Watching her unmask those hidden feelings could lead to one of the most powerful moments in the series. I can’t wait to see how this plays out and what impact it will have on her and the rest of Ave Mujica. Will she cut the strings to claim her freedom, or will she keep dancing, bound like a puppet on a string?

Ave Mujica Episode 2 Tomori

For now, Ave Mujica episode 2 serves as a solid continuation of Episode 1. It effectively highlights the ripple effects of the band’s big face reveal and the chaos it unleashed. I also appreciated how MyGo was brought into the story, especially Tomori’s reaction as she remained oblivious to everything until arriving at school. Some of the big questions now are: What will Tomori and the rest of MyGo do now that they’ve discovered Sakiko and Mutsumi have formed a new band together? Will they become rivals? I certainly hope so! A rivalry would add even more intensity to the story and set the stage for something truly special. I’m already imagining how hyped would it be for the Ave Mujica x MyGo live concert set for April. It will be epic.
