Attack on Titan Cast Picks Most Impactful Scenes from Final Season Part 2

Attack on Titan cast members picked their favorite, most-impactful scenes from the Final Season Part 2 earlier today during AnimeJapan 2022. Attack on Titan had a one-hour-long stage, that also closed this year’s event. A few important pieces of information were also given:

  • The voice recording sessions for the anime are still ongoing
  • Eren will appear in the upcoming episode (87)
  • The next episode will be the season finale, according to the Blu-ray listing for Part 2

Yuki Kaji (Eren), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa), Marina Inoue (Armin), Hiro Shimono (Connie), Yoshimasa Hosoya (Reiner), and Ayane Sakura (Gabi) attended the event and shared their experiences with the series, while Chiaki Matsuzawa served as a presenter.

Ayane Sakura broke the ice after pointing out that this is the first time she is attending an in-person event with Hiro Shimono. For her, one of the best scenes in the recent episodes was Falco’s love confession to Gabi. This scene followed Gabi’s realization that there are no devils on Paradis, and that they are all humans and the same. Falco, who tries to console her, admits his part in Eren’s attack on Liberio. Caring for others is what keeps these characters human.

For Yoshimasa Hosoya, Jean attacking Reiner after confession about Marco’s death was the most impactful. This scene highlighted Reiner’s humanity since humans are not strong and Reiner is in the end, one of them. Hosoya jokingly added that there were more punches thrown than he remembers.

Shimono Hiro picked the scene in which Connie tries to feed Falco to the titan in Raguko village. Marina Inoue agrees with him and adds that the scene that followed (in which Armin and Connie have a conversation about Connie’s mother) was also quite good. As far as Armin’s most impactful scene goes, Marina Inoue thinks it’s him finally realizing the weight of Bertholdt’s words. “Somebody has to get their hands dirty” and do what needs to be done to fulfill goals.

Yui Ishikawa believes that Mikasa’s determination to fight and stop Eren was one of the highlights of the season. The path to stopping Eren lies with Mikasa, and before the scene in which Mikasa and Hange discuss options, she didn’t realize she had it in her.

The last to present favorite scene was Eren’s voice actor – Yuki Kaji. He picked Eren’s speech to all the Subjects of Ymir. “Wipe every last one of them” was a line he highlighted as it drastically changed meaning between the first season and now. Kaji also spoke about the effort he put into saying this line, stating that he “destroyed” his throat to make the guttural sound used in this scene.

The Attack on Titan cast members ended the panel by talking about their portrayal of the characters and questioning the definition of entertainment. Although Attack on Titan falls into that category, the themes and topics it deals with are quite dark. Ayane Sakura looked back on the thin line between enemies and comrades, stating that small things give her hope. For Yui Ishikawa, the story makes her think about what she wants to protect the most. Yuki Kaji said that every character has a life and a story but that this one is Eren’s. That is what he thinks about when voicing him.

Yuki Kaji tweeted a group photo to commemorate the event:

Episode 87 of Attack on Titan airs next Sunday, on April 3.
